Local Government NSW Board Representative joins the IPWEA Roads and Transport Directorate Management Committee

The IPWEA Roads and Transport Directorate is pleased to welcome Councillor Alan Tickle to the Roads and Transport Directorate Management Committee, as the Local Government NSW Board Representative.

“I am honoured to be part of the Roads and Transport Directorate Management Committee and accept the responsibility that comes with that task” said Cr Tickle.

Alan Tickle grew up in Dungog before attending Wagga Agricultural college and then commencing a career in banking and financial planning in 1976. He served in bank branches in Kempsey, Mudgee, Lithgow, Bathurst and Grafton which also gave him a chance to explore various regions of NSW. He currently operates a Financial Planning Business in Taree and has tertiary qualifications in that field.

Alan was first elected to Greater Taree City Council in 2004, was re-elected thereafter serving as Deputy Mayor prior to the amalgamation of Taree Council with Great Lakes and Gloucester Council in 2016. Alan decided to return to Local Government this last election where he was subsequently elected Deputy Mayor of Mid Coast Council.

Alan shared, “The challenges in meeting community expectations when it comes to standard of road and bridge infrastructure is immense given the sheer size of our state’s road network.”

“While those challenges are particularly apparent to regional councils who have rural roads and bridges to maintain and where the funding constraints from a lower population base amplifies those challenges, the whole of our state and those charged with meeting those community expectations can only benefit through the sharing of expertise and striving together for excellence”, Cr Tickle added.

The IPWEA Roads and Transport Directorate is delighted to have Cr Alan Tickle join us and look forward to the contribution he will bring to our member councils through the Management Committee.
