YIPWEA Action Plan 2021-2022

Young IPWEA (YIPWEA) was established across Australia in late 2012 with the vision of “Developing tomorrow’s leaders to enhance the quality of life and liveability of our communities” and a common mission “To support, development and advocate for young members of IPWEA enabling them to realise their full potential leading public works and services, infrastructure planning, delivery and operations” for members under the age of 35.

The YIPWEA NSW and ACT Committee consisting of 12 regional YIPWEA representative of NSW and ACT have collaborated to develop the Young IPWEA NSW and ACT Action Plan for 2021 and 2022. The intention of this plan is to:
1. Provide direction and guidance to the Committee on goals to achieve within the period of
this plan;
2. Detail measures for success of the Committee on reaching their goals;
3. Align the work of the Committee with that of the IPWEA NSW and ACT Board and YIPWEA
Australasia; and
4. To ensure the committee delivers the Young IPWEA vision and mission
 
The Committee agreed that the three strategic objectives specified in the 2019 to 2021 Action Plan are still relevant for 2021 and 2022, that is:
1. Engaging, attracting, retaining and supporting YIPWEA NSW members,
2. Supporting the industry develop its next generation of Public Works Engineers,
3. Raising the profile of YIPWEA NSW Members within the industry.
 
Consequently, the following initiatives were identified to provide value for members:
1. Promote the Coffee Cup Challenge, Cadetship and knowledge sharing
2. Promote joint collaboration with other public works engineering organisation for young
engineers as well as organise Technical Tour
3. Propose four target areas for professional development courses/ topics
4. Host two networking events for YIPWEA members
5. Improve engagement, communication and retention of knowledge with YIPWEA NSW and
ACT Community
6. Promote and support YIPWEA NSW and ACT Ambassador Program
7. Continue to promote Pocket Sally
8. Engage, build meaningful relationship with and have a presence at universities offering
engineering courses across NSW
9. Promote a standing agenda item for presentation from 1 YIPWEA member on all IPWEA
NSW Regional Meetings and Forums
10. Publish monthly news columns in IPWEA NSW e-News
11. Develop a strategy to raise the profile of YIPWEA members within the industry
