The Roads & Transport Directorate was established in 2004 as a joint initiative between IPWEA NSW & ACT and Local Government NSW (LGNSW). It serves as a focus for research activities and the provision of technical advice to assist members in discharging their road management roles. The Roads & Transport Directorate represents key stakeholders focused on planning, delivery, and management of roads and transport services. Members are respected for their knowledge, skills and resources.
Our Purpose

Road Asset Benchmarking Project
The Roads & Transport Directorate has begun the data collection process for the biennial Road Asset Benchmarking Project. In preparation for this project, we are reaching out to all NSW Councils to assist with this survey.
Our Mission
To build the capacity of our members and serve the industry with advice and technical expertise
To become the "go-to group" in the design, building, and maintenance of safe and efficient infrastructure for the roads and transport industry
To provide support for the benefit of the roads and transport sector in NSW
To benchmark and develop evidence to support the case for increased investment in the construction, safe operation and maintenance of roads
